TY - RPRT T1 - Migrant Workers in Israel: A Contemporary Form of Slavery PB - The Euro-Mediterranean Rights Network & The International Federation for Human Rights N2 - This report summarizes the findings of the mission sent by the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) and the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Network (EMHRN) to carry out an enquiry into the situation of foreign workers in Israel. The mission was alarmed to find that, of approximately 300,000 foreign workers brought into Israel, mostly to replace Palestinian workers, more than 65% (over 200,000) are illegal. Many of the foreign workers begin by working legally, but then lose their jobs or change employers, thus losing their permits and becoming illegal workers.
