Statistics Canada tracks the ratio of unemployed Canadians to job vacancies in each province and territory. This map is a snapshot, representing an average of the three months ending in January 2013.

Mouse over the icons to see how the figures compare with a snapshot from last year, with data from the three months ending in January 2012.

For each province, Human Resources and Skills Development Canada has provided January 2012 figures for selected occupations listed by EI recipients. For comparison, the number of temporary foreign workers approved to enter each province for those occupations is also included.

Unemployed persons are those who, during the reference week, were available for work and were either on temporary layoff, had looked for work in the past four weeks or had a job to start within the next four weeks.
