Paglalarawan

Migrant Workers Rights Network (MWRN) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that strives to connect advocates of migrant workers through an open, moderated network (including migrant workers, unionists, researchers, journalists, community agencies, policy analysts, and parliamentary representatives).

MWRN’s mission is firstly to centralize and distribute crucial information for the purpose of supporting, on a local, national, and international level, the fundamental rights of those admitted as guestworkers through temporary foreign worker programs, through the ability to change one’s employer, to live with one’s children or partner, and to apply for permanent residence.

The mission of MWRN is also to influence political decision-making (if necessary, by means of legal and administrative challenges to those policies amounting to modern day slavery), so that host countries, starting with Canada, will reform their guestworker programs. This should be done in the interim by abolishing all major regulatory and administrative obstacles to migrants’ ability to exercise their right to liberty and security, as well as inclusion in society (including access to justice) and capacity to associate for the purpose of collective bargaining.

-------
